Market Summary:
After the Day 4 follow through day (FTD) for the Nasdaq Composite on Friday, January 17th, I discussed the checklist I would like to see. 1) No distribution days. It’s only been two days, but so far so good. 2) The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite to stay above their respective 50-day moving averages. Again, so far so good. Also, for the other indexes to REGAIN their 50-days. So far, we’ve seen the MDY, NYSE Comp, and the RSP do that. All of this is a step in the right direction. 3) Tighter price action in individual stocks. I review many of them in this video. 4) Breakouts to work from the stocks on our watch list. So far this week, we’ve seen great price action in many of the stocks I discussed in the weekend video such as ARM, GOOGL, AMZN, and PSTG. 5) An additional FTD. We haven’t seen this yet, but again, it’s only been two days.

So, the next big question is “have we started a new power trend?” The honest answer is I don’t know. As the market’s health has improved recently, I have increased my investment levels from 40% to 70%, but I would still like to see more health before I increase things further. In other words, I am happy with my current exposure, and I will simply do my best to manage my positions from here. Overall, I’m pleased with the improving price action. Thank you and good luck for the remainder of the week.
