Market Summary:
Overall, the price action of the market is strong. The major indexes continue to hold their key moving averages, and many of the growth leaders (especially the Mega Caps) are acting well. Part of me is thinking: keep it simple, stick with the trend, and don’t argue with the market. However, I try to have a little foresight and think ahead to what could rattle the market. One thing that could cause potential volatility is the upcoming seasonality. August and September tend to be two of the weaker months of the year. It doesn’t mean that we HAVE to correct, it simply means we should be on the lookout for this potential volatility.
As always, this is where I encourage members to make decisions based on their own timeframe and investment objectives. For example, I will most likely reduce my investment levels over the next week from 80-90% invested, down to 60-70% invested. That way, if things go higher, I still have plenty of exposure, and if the market becomes volatile, having some cash should hopefully reduce that volatility. Either way, if we do see some volatility during the second half of August and into September, I do not foresee any sustained downside for the reasons I mention in this video. Some concepts that should never change (no matter your timeframe) are simple rules such as: 1) Expose yourself to strong stocks 2) Get strong entry points 3) Manage risk if any position significantly turns against you.
Ideally, it would be nice if the market goes sideways during this potentially volatile time, and then sets up for a strong fourth quarter rally. Of course, I will always take this day by day, but I like to think ahead sometimes. Good luck for the remainder of the week!
