Market Summary:
So far this week, the Nasdaq Composite had accumulation days on Monday and Tuesday, then pulled back slightly on Wednesday on lighter volume than the previous day. The S&P 500 and Russell 2000 continue to consolidate in ranges. As I’ve mentioned recently, I feel that we will be in a range until we get through June. Upcoming events include tomorrow’s (Thursday morning) CPI report, the June 16th Fed meeting, the annual Russell 2000 rebalancing on June 25th, and regular end of the quarter portfolio adjustments. I’m neither expecting any significant upside nor downside until then, just some potential volatility.
I encourage members to make decisions based on their own investment objectives and risk tolerance. If you have a longer-term timeframe, get strong entry points and try to be patient over the next few weeks. If you like to be tactical, I suggest keeping some cash available to cushion any potential downside and also to have capital to buy dips near logical support levels (21-ema and 50-day moving averages). Also, if you are nervous or can’t handle the volatility, the best way to deal with this is to use lighter positions. Please keep in mind, when you buy a stock or ETF, you don’t have to start with a full position. Eventually, I feel we will break out of this range as we run into next quarter’s earnings season. Again, patience will be required until then.
I also want to remind members to stay focused on the best possible stocks out there and to get strong entry points. In this video, I present some focused ideas that are near safer buy points. As always, any Friday decisive close below the 10-week would be a suggested stop. If you have any questions, you can ask them during the next webinar which will be this Sunday, June 13th at 11AM EST. Thank you and good luck for the remainder of the week.
