Market Summary:
Coming into this past week, I mentioned to expect a pullback. I outlined the reasons in recent videos and the main ones were that the indexes were technically extended, and the seasonal weakness during the week after June OpEx. How you prepare for these potential pullbacks depends on your timeframe and overall investment plan. For example, I like certain stocks into year-end, so I just deal with the volatility and I’m ok with normal pullbacks. If you are shorter-term and tactical, I mentioned that you could take profits into strength in order to have some cash available for these inevitable pullbacks. Either way, it’s important to get strong entry points and be ok with volatility during these normal pullbacks. In other words, I am reminding members to take a step back, use weekly charts, and stay mentally tough.
The week saw the small cap and mid cap indexes (IWM and MDY) decline more than the larger cap indexes (SPY and QQQ). This is another reminder to stay focused on the quality names and the Mega Cap stocks that are showing great relative strength. Heading into this upcoming week, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some weakness early in the week. If we get a continued pullback to the 21-day EMA on the major indexes, I think it will be a buyable one, as the first three weeks of July tend to be seasonally strong (please see the link above for the seasonal statistics). Of course I will take this day-by-day, but I am just trying to prepare members for what we can expect over the near-term. These statistics are secondary and supplemental data to go with the primary factors that the major indexes are strong, and many of the leaders continue to act well. If you have any questions, you can ask them during the next webinar which will be this Monday, June 26th at 7PM EST. Thank you and enjoy the remainder of your weekend.
