Market Summary:
The Nasdaq Composite broke out of its 14,100-14,200 range recently and started a new uptrend. The price action in the Mega Cap stocks is positive and I think many of them will continue to run into their earnings reports later this month. Short term, the Nasdaq is a little extended and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a pullback this week. Although we are in a strong trend, please keep in mind there will be normal pullbacks to the 21-day EMA and regular shakeouts along the way. As I always discuss, get strong entry points, know your timeframe, and deal with a little volatility during these uptrends. I see this trend likely lasting until the next Fed meeting (July 28th) when the market will start to get concerned about interest rates again. Until then, don’t over complicate things and stick to the trend.
When we’re in an uptrend, many members have emailed me about the best way to position themselves. Of course, there is no right or wrong answer, but in this video I discuss three simple ways: 1) Using ETFs 2) Having a concentrated portfolio of strong stocks 3) Using a blend of the two (stocks and ETFs). How you position your portfolio completely depends on your investment objectives and risk tolerance. It also depends on if you work full time or if you trade for a living. The former might not allow you to watch the market as closely, which is why I suggest smaller positions and using the 10-week as your guide. If you have any questions about this or any stocks not covered in this video, you can ask them during the next webinar which will be Tuesday, July 6th at 7:30PM EST. Thank you and enjoy the remainder of your holiday weekend!
