Market Summary:
I mentioned recently that I would like to see 3 things to confirm growth stocks are heading in the right direction: 1) A follow through day on the Nasdaq Composite 2) The Nasdaq to get back above its 50-day moving average and 3) More growth stocks setting up. Well, we got a little of all these so far this week. On Monday, March 15th, we had a FTD on the Nasdaq Composite, but it fit the old definition of 1% or greater (I explain this further in the video). We also are slightly above the 50-day and more growth stocks are starting to show up (specifically in the semiconductor sector). Bottom line, the 3 things I want to see are slowly making progress and we are heading in the right direction. Another positive is that so far this week there is no distribution.
From now until the end of the quarter, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more volatility and shakeouts before eventually heading higher. The end of the quarter tends to be volatile as money managers have to rebalance their portfolios. After we get through this, I feel the market will head higher into April. This week’s Fed meeting is out of the way, and the market will start to anticipate next quarter’s earnings season. Again, we have to get through this quarter first, so one thing at a time. I still suggest using half positions until we get more confirmation from the Nasdaq. Even if we see some shakeouts over the near-term, I am not expecting any sustained downside. Therefore, lean bullish, stay focused on the best growth stocks out there, and make sure to get strong entry points. Good luck for the remainder of the week!
