Market Summary:
After the market decline on Friday, June 5th, I mentioned that we were likely to see the major indexes visit their 50-day moving averages over the near-term. It happened quickly last week as the Nasdaq Composite dropped to its 50-day on Tuesday, June 9th. That same day, the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 bounced off their respective 10-week moving averages. I immediately sent a Market Note to Members discussing how the major indexes bounced off support and how I put some money to work in some of the stocks showing great relative strength. I also explained in the MidWeek Video how many market participants rushed for the exits last week and presented many bullish sentiment statistics (from a contrarian point of view).
From here, I am expecting the remainder of the month to be volatile due to the many factors I discussed in this video. The main one is the index rebalancing that occurs later this month. Of course, anything can happen, but I am still expecting volatility. Overall, I wouldn’t get too bearish with the Russell 2000 and S&P MidCap 400 closing at new highs last Friday. Also, during the stock screening webinar on Saturday, I discussed how many Semiconductor stocks continue to act well. As always, I encourage members to make your own decisions based on your timeframe, risk tolerance, and overall investment plan. Thank you and good luck this week. Also, a reminder that the next MidWeek Video will be posted this Tuesday, June 16th by 8PM EST due the markets being closed in the US for the Juneteenth holiday on Friday, June 19th.
