8) 33:20 Conclusion/Summary

Market Summary:
Friday, June 5th was one of the worst days for growth stocks in a long time. The Semiconductor ETFs were down about -10%, ARKK -7%, and FFTY -7.5%. In recent videos, I’ve been reminding members of my fourth guideline during powertrends, which is to manage your trades. This not only means to manage risk on the downside, but also to take profits on the upside, especially when you have gains of 100% or more. In fairness, I wasn’t expecting weakness until the second half of June, but as always, the market doesn’t care what we want.

Many are asking WHY this severe drop happened. As members know, I never really care about the why, but I discuss several factors in this video. This includes: 1) Many people had excessive stock gains recently and we saw profit-taking last week. 2) The major indexes visit their 50-day moving average approximately every three months. 3) June 1 and June 2 were “stall” days showing that possibly the buyers were running out of steam (again, everything is so clear in hindsight). 4) In the third month of the quarter, the news cycle tends to shift from fundamentals to geopolitical concerns and/or interest rate worries. 5) The strong Jobs Report on Friday led to markets showing that the next move by the Fed will likely be an interest rate hike.

From here, I’m expecting a visit to the 50-day moving average for the major indexes over the next few weeks. It doesn’t necessarily have to be straight down. We could recover over the next week or so and then eventually drop later this month. Either way, I’m going to remain defensive until we get more clarity. I want to remind members that defensive doesn’t mean bearish. It simply means using lighter positions and keeping some cash until we see how many stocks react around key levels. If you have any questions, you can ask them during the next LIVE webinar, which will be this Saturday, June 13th at 11AM EST. Thank you and good luck this week.
