Market Summary:
The Nasdaq Composite is neither in a power trend nor a severe down trend. It’s just been in a sideways and choppy range over the past several months. The challenge lately is that there are many stocks that have great longer-term growth prospects, but the market is choppy, thus creating higher volatility for many of these stocks. That’s why I’ve discussed a few options in recent videos: 1) Sit out and don’t trade if it’s too volatile for you. 2) Use lighter positions and give stocks more room. 3) Get strong entry points and just deal with the volatility. These decisions should be made based on your timeframe and your overall risk tolerance.
The other challenge is that we’ve seen two different markets over the past two months. Value has outperformed growth and I mentioned that usually one of two things happens. Either growth stabilizes and the overall market uptrend resumes, or the weakness in growth eventually weighs on the entire market. Unfortunately, we saw the latter happen this week and all the major indexes are now below their 50-day moving averages. From here, continue to be patient and defensive. Please keep your trading light and stick to your stops in case the selling gets worse. There will be another power trend, but it will require patience and discipline until it emerges. As always, protecting your mental capital is just as important as protecting your overall capital, so that we can be ready to take advantage of the next uptrend. If you have any questions, you can ask them during the next LIVE webinar which will be next Saturday, March 14th at 11AM EST. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
