Market Summary:
There are two different markets going on right now. Value-related stocks and the broader market are acting well (as seen by the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the NYSE Composite, the equal-weight S&P 500 ETF (RSP), Energy (XLE), and other defensive sectors). Growth stocks and growth-related indexes are not acting as well (as seen by the Nasdaq Composite, ARKK, Bitcoin, and other “risk-on” sectors). So what’s the solution? I usually see one of two things happen. Either growth stabilizes, resumes its uptrend, and continues to lift the overall market. Or growth gets weaker and possibly weighs on the general market.

Rather than guess, I prefer to be patient until we get a clearer picture. Please keep in mind that I mostly trade growth stocks because I like them over the long-term. Of course, there will be periods where value outperforms growth, but I’m not looking to chase the strength in value right now. I prefer to wait for conditions to improve and for the volatility to calm down in the growth world. As always, the decisions you make should be based on your timeframe, your risk tolerance, and your overall investment objectives. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
