Market Summary:
In mid-July, I discussed the possibility of a normal pullback to the 50-day moving average for the major indexes. When it happened recently for the Nasdaq Composite, I mentioned to be patient because the S&P 500 had not yet corrected down to its 50-day. Now, they both overshot their 50-days to the downside and I review a few points in this video. 1) Overall, I am still bullish and probably more positive on the markets than most people. I view this as a normal pullback that will not lead to a bigger correction, but we just need to be patient as we get through the seasonally weak months of August and September. Again, I will always be open-minded and take this day-by-day. 2) During this pullback, I was waiting for signs of the selling to slow down. I discuss how it started to last Thursday and Friday, and overall for the week when you look at the weekly volume. In addition, we have retested last August’s high (for both the Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500), and we are near the 21-week EMA, which has served as support during uptrends that overshoot the 50-day on the downside. 3) I also discussed how I would pay attention to relative strength during this pullback. I started to SLOWLY put money back to work on Thursday and Friday of this past week, and I discuss those light positions in this video.

From here, I still think it’s wise to be patient and use lighter positions for new buys. I would still like to see the market prove itself, see stocks setup again, and wait for a follow through day over the next few weeks. That would be a step in the right direction that the big institutions are coming back into this market. Again, it will require some patience and discipline until then. If you have any questions, you can ask them during the next webinar which will be this Monday, August 21st at 7PM EST. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
