Market Summary:
The major averages continue to act well. Since the surge in the market after the CPI (inflation) report earlier this month, we’ve seen healthy consolidation. The indexes have held their key moving averages and we haven’t seen any significant sell volume. From here, we should get more clarity after Fed Chair Powell’s talk on Wednesday at 1:30PM EST. If his tone is dovish, we could see the market break out of its recent range to the upside and vice versa if he’s hawkish. Rather than guess, I prefer the wait and hear his overall tone, and his projections for the next Fed meeting.

The biggest negative continues to be the uninspiring price action in growth stocks. I’ve not only reviewed this in recent videos, but I also discussed this extensively during the Saturday Webinar (which you can find in the Webinar Videos section of the website). I would prefer to see more breakouts and stocks acting better before getting more aggressively involved in this market. For now, I will continue to keep exposure to the markets and sectors via ETFs and keep my individual stocks positions light until they prove themselves better. Again, I think we will get more clarity this week after Powell’s talk and after we see more economic data. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!
