Market Summary:
As I’ve mentioned in the past several videos, patience is required as we need to get through this seasonally weak period (approximately mid-September until mid-October). Specifically, over the next week or two, I would like to see: 1) A follow through day 2) The major indexes get back above their 50-day moving averages 3) More stocks to set up and prove themselves technically. The other reason we need to be patient is that we have to be open minded to another possible leg down in the Nasdaq Composite, which could take the index down to its 200-day moving average. Again, be patient until we get more clarity over the near-term.
The way I’m handling the current market is to stay exposed to some of the strongest stocks I can find (many of which I review in this weekend’s video), and also to keep some cash available to help reduce volatility. I am currently about 60% invested, but please keep in mind this is always subject to change. If your timeframe is longer-term, make sure to get strong entry points and deal with some volatility. If you are shorter-term, keep your positions light and maybe use some cash to help mitigate the volatility. Either way, no matter what your timeframe, you have to have a loss cutting policy if any positions turn against you. I’ve been stopped out of some stocks recently. It’s never fun, but it’s part of the discipline. If you have any questions, you can ask them during the next webinar, which will be this Tuesday, October 12th at 7:30PM EST. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
