Market Summary:
It was nice to see the major indexes (Nasdaq Composite, Nasdaq 100, and S&P 500) hold their 10-week moving averages this week. Although they were down on the week, it occurred on lighter volume than the previous week and they also closed in the upper end of their ranges. Another positive is sentiment. From a contrarian point of view, it’s nice to see that most market participants are very fearful. The biggest negative in the market is the currently weak seasonality. Over the near-term, I am still expecting some volatility, but into year-end, I see the market heading higher. There are too many stocks acting well for me to get too bearish. Conclusion: Stay defensive until we get through this seasonally weak period, but don’t get negative. As always, know your timeframe.
