Market Summary:
My process is to be VERY open-minded when reviewing the positives and negatives in the market and then adjusting my investment levels accordingly. In this video, I review the POSITIVES: 1) The major indexes are all above their 50-day moving averages. 2) The Semiconductor ETF (SMH) is holding its 50-day, and NVDA and AVGO continue to hold their respective 200-day MAs. 3) The overall resilience of the market due to the increased earnings revisions. The NEGATIVES: 1) The recent distribution days for the Nasdaq Composite. 2) The carnage beneath the surface in many growth stocks and sectors (I review them in this video). 3) The upcoming weaker seasonality during mid-term election years and the summer months.

My conclusion: Defense until we see better price action. I prefer to trade SUSTAINED uptrends and right now the price action is too volatile and choppy. My instincts tell me that we won’t see the next power trend until the Fall, so I prefer to wait patiently for better setups. As always, I will be open-minded and continue to monitor the market’s price action. For now, defense means lighter positions and a higher cash position until conditions in the growth world improve.
