Market Summary:
Let’s keep things simple. We’re in a bull market, so please don’t overcomplicate things. It looks like we’re starting a new power trend. Remember the main guidelines during power trends: 1) Use the 21-day as your guide. In other words, if we are extended from this level, don’t be surprised to see minor pullbacks through price or through time. 2) Expose yourself to strong stocks and ETFs. I present plenty of ideas in these videos. 3) Get strong entry points near the 21-day and 50-day moving averages. 4) Stick to your stops. Just because it’s a bull market, it doesn’t mean EVERY trade is going to work. You still have to manage risk. 5) Manage your trades as best as possible based on your timeframe. I can give guidelines, but ultimately, you need to decide what position sizes to use and when to take profits.
Shorter-term, I mentioned we could see some volatility towards the end of September and into early October. This past week, the market was incredibly resilient and finished slightly positive for the week. I’m guessing the recent rate cut from the Fed is adding more liquidity into the market, and there seems to be a relentless bid beneath the surface. That being said, I still think we will see some normal pullbacks and shakeouts along the way, but nothing extreme to the downside. From here, we are slightly extended on the Nasdaq Composite. Again, it doesn’t mean we HAVE to pullback, but if we do see one down to the 21-day, I would consider it normal price action. As always, if you have trouble making decisions or don’t want to actively manage your portfolio, use smaller positions and give them more room. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
