Market Summary:
In recent videos, I talked about keeping things simple. The major indexes regained their 50-day moving averages, started to consolidate above the 50-day, and many stocks were acting well. Even if we saw a pullback or shakeout over the near-term, I mentioned that I was not expecting anything sustained or any significant downside. Today, we saw a cooler than expected inflation report, and that led institutions back into the market with some incredible volume. In fact, it was the highest volume day for the Nasdaq Composite since June of 2022. In this video, I point out how the two very strong volume days this week (Tuesday and Wednesday) for the Nasdaq were very similar to mid-December of 2023 when we started a strong power trend. That leads me to believe we are stating another one now.
If this goes on to be a power trend, please remember the key rule of using the 21-day EMA as your guide. In other words, when we get 3-4% extended on the Nasdaq Composite, expect some sideways digestion or an eventual pullback to the 21-day. Also remember the checklist of focusing on the strongest stocks, getting strong entry points, and managing your trades based on your timeframe and overall investment objectives. If you can’t watch the market full time or you’re fairly new to trading, please use lighter positions to help build your decision-making muscle and to help build your confidence. If you have any questions, you can ask them during the next webinar which will be this Saturday, May 18th at 11AM EST. Thank you and good luck for the remainder of the week.
