Market Summary:
In recent videos, I discussed being patient until we saw signs of the institutions coming back into the market. We got that this past Tuesday, August 29th when the Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 both flashed a follow through day (FTD). I emailed members a Market Note on Tuesday and I will review all those points in this upcoming Weekend’s Video. For now, I am pleased to see the FTD got us back through the 50-day moving average. In addition, many of the strong sector ETFs (IGV, SMH, ITB) also regained their respective 50-days. From here, we just don’t want to see any major distribution days. I am ok with normal backing and filling on light volume, while the market gives time for more stocks to setup. Overall, this week has been a step in the right direction and it’s looking like the August pullback was just a normal correction within an overall uptrend.
Of course, we are not out of the woods yet. In other words, I don’t think it will be smooth sailing until we get through the seasonally weak month of September. It wouldn’t surprise me to see a decent first half of September followed by volatility after the September 15th OpEx. I will discuss this further in the Weekend Video. As always, I will take this day-by-day, stay focused on the strongest stocks, and remind you to get those safe entry points. If you have any questions, you can ask them during the next webinar which will be this Monday, September 4th at 7PM EST. Good luck for the remainder of the week and enjoy your long holiday weekend!
