Market Summary:
I’ve discussed in recent videos the reasons I’m more positive than most people on the markets. I will continue to stick to the five guidelines I have outlined and manage my portfolio as best as possible. In this video, I talk about the importance of working on your own style. For example, coming into this week, I mentioned how it was likely to be a strong week due to options expiration (OpEx). If the strength continues, I will likely reduce exposure into the end of the week because the week after OpEx tends to trend to the downside. Does this mean you should do the same? Absolutely not. You should only do what works for your timeframe and your overall investment objectives. I only present these trends to help people who like to actively manage their portfolio and vary their investment levels. However, if you are a longer-term investor, get strong entry points, be patient, and stick to your plan.
Another point I stress in this video is to keep more of your portfolio in the quality institutional stocks and stronger sector ETFs. I’m getting too many questions about how to trade Biotechs and that’s telling that you’re either not trading within your comfort levels or your position size is too big. Some options include to pass on these stocks if you’re not comfortable, or take lighter positions and use the 200-day as your stop. Please keep in mind these are more speculative names, and it’s ok to speculate, but please do it with a smaller portion of your portfolio. If you have any questions, you can ask them during the next webinar which will be this Saturday, May 20th at 11AM EST. Thank you and good luck for the remainder of the week.
