Market Summary:
In my screening tonight, one big positive is that I’m finding more bases forming and stocks setting up. What I like is that they are showing up in other sectors besides just Semiconductors. The key is to be patient and still let the market prove itself. You might be thinking “What the heck are you talking about? The market is at all time highs!” Yes, I agree the S&P 500 is very strong, but we all know that growth stocks are still struggling beneath the surface. I guess I would like to see these stocks complete their bases and breakout on strong volume to help increase the probability of seeing a new power trend in January.
I think we will get a much clearer picture on market direction in the first two weeks of January when institutional volume picks up again. Also, the economic data in Q1 will give us a clue of how aggressive the Fed will be with rate hikes. If they do raise rates, I can’t see them doing more than one or two hikes before pausing their potential rate-hike cycle. As you can see, there are so many variables and possibilities that I prefer to shut out the noise and stay focused on price action. As always, I will continue to monitor it day-by-day and pass along any interesting analysis that I find. For now, I am still going to keep things light until growth stocks prove themselves a little better. If they start to work, I will increase exposure, but if selling volume comes in during the beginning of January, I would like to keep some cash to hopefully minimize the downside volatility. I present many ideas that are near buy points in this video. If you decide to trade any of them, I suggest using half positions and see how they act. Good luck for the remainder of the week and remember to be patient!
